Strength Training the Woman’s Way Workshop

Feel Empowered, Strong, and Confident

Strength training for women and eating protein is trending right now.  You can’t read the news or be on social media without someone talking about the benefits of building muscle.  As a woman who’s been strength training for 30 years, I’m excited that it’s finally mainstream.

If strength training is new to you or you’ve been out of the loop for a while, my Strength Training the Woman’s Way workshop was designed with you in mind.

Over the last several decades, we’ve been told that strength training is for men and not women.  While we may not have been told this directly (it’s been a very subtle), this is the message that has been sent to women.

Jane Fonda was the queen of aerobics (and leg warmers!) in the 80s.  Richard Simmons was a fan of short shorts and tank tops while getting your cardio on and squeezing your butt.  Jazzercise was (not so much any more) all about cardio to lose weight and stay in shape.

While there was some strength training involved in the 80s and 90s (remember the thigh master?) there was a myth roaming around that women would get big and bulky if they lifted too heavy.  Women have often been seen as “delicate” and not able to lift like a man because it might be viewed as too masculine.

I call total B.S. on this message that women cannot and should not lift heavy weights.

This is why I specialize in helping women get comfortable lifting weights so they can transform their body with confidence and intention.

The truth is, it’s really difficult for women to get big and bulky like a body builder unless they have the genetic make up (most do not) or are taking supplements (a.k.a. juicing).  Plus, lifting heavy weight is empowering for women when they create a strength training routine the aligns with their physical abilities.
